Welcome to the Brightwell-cum-Sotwell WI website

Brightwell-cum-Sotwell WI

We meet on the second Tuesday of each month in the Village Hall, doors open at 7.30pm - start at 7.45pm. Look out for posters with more details. We don't sing Jerusalem, make jam and haven't any plans for a calendar - yet! We're a friendly, lively crowd and you will be welcomed most warmly. Why not come along?

"Ten members of Brightwell WI  have been out walking and running round the village to get fit for the Race for Life event , which was in Oxford on June 7th. It was  fun doing the training as well as taking part on the day with thousands of other women, old and young, walking and running the 5k course - and also quite emotional as we read some of their back signs and saw that some were not as fit as us. We have  raised so far an amazing total of over £1,300 for Cancer Research through sponsorship and our coffee morning and plant sale. A big thank you to everyone who has supported us." - Helen Connor

Celebrating our 1st birthday

What a first birthday party we had - starting with the Doyle Academy of Irish dancers. Aged nine to seventeen, in three hundred pound dresses adorned with Celtic motifs, they performed reels (assisted by some of the audience at one point) and pieces from River Dance, introduced by Ann Marie Gallacher, their founder and ex-world dancing champion who had taken over from Michael Flatley when he was dancing with the Chieftains. After an immense shared supper we cut a beautiful cake, made by Jo Saunders, and toasted our future in bubbly. It's been a brilliantly successful first year and can only get better.
