Welcome to the Brightwell-cum-Sotwell WI website

Warburton Walkers - January & February 2007

Our walk on 17th January saw 5 intrepid walkers very cleverly avoiding the high winds and showers by changing the timing from 10.30 am (still raining hard) to 1 pm (bright sunshine and blue sky) to make maximum use of a 2 hours window between the showers. We met in the Village Hall car park and set off from there to walk parts of 'Walk 9'. Dave led us past Highlands Farm towards Wittenham Clumps and then past North Farm and back over the hill to Brightwell before the next rain shower.

February's walk was around Remenham. Seven of us met at the Village Hall. Once again the weather cleared just in time for us to enjoy the wonderful view across the Thames and the hills beyond. In addition beautiful gardens, snowdrops in the woods, a huge old tree trunk, Red Kites and white deer provided plenty of interest along the way. We finished the walk with a superb lunch at the ‘Little Angel’ pub. They very kindly allowed us to use their car park while out walking.
